Willst du mitkommen?

I could sit here and ramble on about my self but that would bore even the most forbearing of us. But allow me to bring you up to speed. I'm just starting to figure out this business most call family -In doing so I've met some pretty amazing people along the way. Come join me as I awkwardly navigate through this conundrum known as life finding family, friends, and a home while trying not to be arrested, lost, or killed in Deutschland. Still learning deutsch alongside my man Ludwig. Let's watch and see what happens -Wir wollen gehen!

Zachariah Fike has an unusual hobby. The Vermont Army National Guard captain finds old military medals for sale in antique stores and on the Internet. But unlike most memorabilia collectors, Zac doesn’t keep the medals for himself.
Instead, he tracks down the medals’ rightful owners, and returns them.
His effort to reunite families with lost medals all began with a Christmas gift from his mother — a Purple Heart, found in an antique shop and engraved with the name Corrado A.G. Piccoli.
Zac, 31, knows the significance of a Purple Heart — he earned one himself when he was wounded in Afghanistan on Sept. 11, 2010. So when his mother gave him the medal, he knew right away that he had to find the Piccoli family.

Now this is awesome.
I see a lot of medals while thrifting that are engraved and I always wonder how they get to where they are and how someone could part with them.

MOST AWESOME PERSON AWARD

Command Sgt. Maj. Michael E. Biere, the command sergeant major of the 7th Civil Support Command, speaks with a German Military Police soldier after a 2010 Commemorative Ceremony in Koblenz, Germany, Nov. 19. A commemorative wreath was placed in front of a German army Monument in recognition of Germany’s national day of mourning, which honors fallen and missing German soldiers. Biere is a native of Grand Rapids, Mich.

That awkward moment when you realize Ludwig would have been a MP instead of an SSO and probably really would have shot me.
